We’re back from SXSW and slowly recovering. I brought my SX-70 Land camera along and some highly coveted film from our friends at Impossible Project to document the trip. I brought the camera with me everywhere I went and took photos of bands, street performers, and friends that we ran into. We’re very happy to be able to share the trip with you through these photos. NEW GRANADA RECORDS Official SXSW Showcase w/ Sleepy Vikings, The Pauses & more
2011 was an amazing year for the band. We exceeded our Kickstarter goal of $3,500 thanks to our amazing fans, friends, and families. The support you guys showed was amazing. We then drove to Boston to work with our friend/magician Jeremy Mendicino at his analog recording layer, Esthudio, and we recorded our first full length album. That experience stretched us and we definitely grew as a band and as recording musicians. We’re really proud of the music that came out of those blistering 11 days in the studio, and we can’t wait for you to hear it. There were some set backs in mixing, but the record will be getting mixed at the end of this month/ early Feb. Then we’ll be mastering, and getting the physical copies manufactured, and then the record will finally be in your hands, along with all of the goodies you Kickstarter backers have been waiting for. We’ll be releasing a single soon (Kickstarter backers will be the first to hear!!!), and the album release will be in the late spring.
The year just kept getting better when we were asked by our good friend Matt Hires to join him on tour. That was our first national tour, and it was amazing. We met so many amazing people, and the reception was really good. We then joined New Granada Records in the fall, who will be releasing the CD’s, and got asked to play their SXSW official showcase. We are beyond happy to be a part of that.
This past year had a lot of firsts for us, and we couldn’t be more thankful.
